Had the delightful pleasure of dining with 2 other principals tonight- both from other systems. I met the first through the Courage to Lead retreat cycle I completed in the summer. (If you have an opportunity to attend any Courage to Teach or Lead retreats, take it. You will be refreshed and renewed.)
We talked about schools in generally, families and how our children are navigating through their own lives. It heartened me to tackle the rest of this week. For those of us in the Northeast, the February break seems more a necessity than the luxury it might appear. It always catches up with us in June- those of you who work through until April have an earlier end of year. However, Feb seems a particularly dismal time of year, and everyone- even parents- welcomes the break with a sigh of relief and a deep breath! Three more days. ( and this week preceding break seems to be always peppered with the added spice of valentine’s day….. definitely a wild day in elementary school.)
On a personal note, we have just about completed our stark stripping away of ourselves in our home to peel away the personal and leave the bones for the buyers we hope will flock to purchase our well loved home. it will officially go on the market within the next week. We have painted, sanded, polished, stored, tossed and purchased to make the house as appealing as possible. Hopefully the right family will happen along quickly and appreciate the house for its qualities and once again create a warm and cozy home.

Good luck on selling your house, I know how much work it is to get it ready. Then you have to maintain that “clean” look for pop in viewers. Hopefully it will be just what someone needs.

I hope so! Keeping everything ship shape will be a challenge!

I love the Courage To Teach retreat series – but it’s too bad they are becoming scarce due to drops in donations. It was truly one of the most memorable experiences in my life.
